sewer or sweet?: Okay, so just what the heck is a bolus? What does one do with a bolus? Can one catch a bolus? Can one even find a bolus? Until about a year ago I had never even heard the word bolus. Then one day my doctor informed me that I had very high blood sugar. I asked her if she was trying to tell me that I had diabetes. She said "I'm not trying to tell to tell you, I am telling you. You do have diabetes". Well that was that!
So I got my new medicine then I got online. I read a lot about diabetes & that's when I started seeing the word bolus. It seemed to appear all over the diabetes forums pages. They would talk about a bolus or having a bolus but I couldn't figure out what a bolus was. Was I having one if I didn't even recognize it? I googled bolus diabetes definition where I saw the words bolus & insulin. I hadn't been prescribed insulin & I still couldn't grasp the word bolus. I'm obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed.
But then the other day I googled just the word bolus & read the merriam-webster definition . I got this: a ball-shaped mass moving through the digestive tract; also the administration of a drug, medication or other substance in the form of a single, large dose. It suddenly became clearer to me that it meant a blob of food or an injection (ie insulin). Ah ha!! It was not a pustule!!
So do I now understand the people on the forums? Not really. Lots of people there still have boluses (or is it boli?? nope, I checked) I can't understand. But I am starting a year later to get the hang of it & still working on the details.
"n...iced"& sweet: A "n...iced" cold fruity mocha latte made esp for diabetics.
First of all fruits should be frozen (freeze bananas into quarters) & milk very cold.
All the amounts can be suited to your liking ... this is the way I make it.
1 cup very cold milk
1 1/2 TBSP instant coffee
1/2 TBSP cocoa
1 packet splenda (or your favourite artificial sweetener)
1/4 frozen banana
3 large (4 average) frozen strawberries
2 ice cubes (optional)
Put coffee, cocoa & splenda into blender. Add milk then frozen fruit. Pulse a few times then blend.
Ice can be added to the actual beverage or pulsed directly in with the milk. This makes a large drink either way.
BTW ... I told a friend I was writing about a bolus. He said "What's that? It sounds like a pustule". No kidding!!

None And A Half Men
!! What is Misogyny? Folks, esp ladies, do give that misogyny blog a whirl.
Now going directly to the stonecold sewer: Charlie Sheen! So just what does misogyny have to do with Charlie? Pretty much everything. Not only is he a misogynist ass by nature personally but through his equally misogynistic tv character he promotes the entire concept to the viewing world. So why do people watch this show? I'm guessing it's because a lot of men really like it. In my own exprience I've found that all the men I know like the show & all the women I know refuse to watch it (incl me). However I'm certain many women do watch it. I noticed that 2 sites online ( imbd & Wikepedia ) referred to Sheen's character as hedonistic. Hedonistic?? That's putting it mildly!! Had I wrtten it I would've used the word misogynistic instead. Sheen used to be a good actor. Now he only plays himself. Do I like him? Not at all.
Mmmm ... stonecold sweet: CBS fired Sheen & took his new tv episodes off the air. GREAT!! Will they bring him & the show back? Probably cuz after all they are men & into making money. But for a while there are only reruns & way more than enough.
An interesting Google blurb ... go wild & click gaddafi sheen who said what .
BTW ... I'm not gay & I'm not a femanist. But I am a woman neither crazy nor stupid.

Do I still like her?
the sweet: I saw Carol Burnett on the Tonight Show the other night. She'd had some plastic surgery done. She looked pretty good I'm happy to say. However the same cannot be said about everyone.
To wit the sewer: Meg Ryan. I've watched almost every Meg Ryan movie. I even remember her in the soaps years ago. I just loved her movies, her acting & her general self . That made it all the worse when I saw one of her newer movies Homeland Security aka My Mom's New Boyfriend (2008). That was so disappointing. All I could wonder was why did she do it. Did she like her new look or was she desperately wishing she had never done it? Someone commented that her smile made her look like the Joker (Jack Nicholson) & her cutey sexy tousled hair parts just looked plain silly. Unfortunately I agree on both counts. Do I still like her? Absolutely!
the sewer & the sweet: Marina Sirtis had her breasts done & says she wishes she had never done it. Well I've never checked out her breasts but I did see her face in the movie 31 North 62 East recently. For better or worse depending , she reminded me of Anna Magnani.Do I still like her? Do I still like them? Absolutely!
Now the sadly sewer: Gabrielle Anwar. She was this slim lovely girl who did the tango with Al Pacino in the movie Scent of a Woman. OMG!! Now in a TV series show Burn Notice she is this scrawny ( anorexic looking ) woman whose face looks like it was rubbed around with Plasticine. Only a vague hint of her former face remains. Her cutey sexy parts, presuming you don't actually laugh, are downright scary. Yet I really like the series. Do I still like her? I'm afraid not! Two words: cannot act.
BTW... in case anyone wonders, despite my weird red pic, I've never had plastic surgery.
